Random Round-Up 23
Apparently, Sega has decided that dudes need something to do while they're peeing so they're developing a selection of urinal games for them to play.
A pressure sensor in the urinal measures the strength and location of your flow and sends the feedback to a video screen mounted at eye level. The Toylet sytem has four different games you can play: "Mannekin Pis," named after the famous statue, that measures how hard you can pee; "Graffiti Eraser," where you act as a firehose washing graffiti off a wall; "The Northern Wind, The Sun and Me," where you, the deeply perverted north wind, encounter a busty girl in a nice dress and decide to go for a panty shot (the harder the wind blows, the higher the skirt goes); and "Battle! Milk From Nose," where your urine becomes milk being squirted from a nose, and your squirts are compared to those of the last person to use the urinal. If you're particularly proud of your pee and carry your USB drive to the bathroom, you can save your scores on the stick for later.
I guess men feel gypped that the line for the ladies' room is always so long so they've developed something to help them pass the time. Lovely. If only I'd known sooner, I could've bought Robert a special thumb drive for Christmas.
I'm sure you've read or heard something about the current controversy surrounding Rush Limbaugh but last Thursday (the 20th) The Colbert Report did an excellent job of tying together many of Rush's most dickish moments in a nice little montage. I think it makes its point perfectly.

Videos Me Likes
The first one is a clip from the Anne Hathaway-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live. SNL is very hit-or-miss in my opinion but I thought Anne did a fantabulous job channeling Katie Holmes in this skit. Plus, the chick playing Miley Cyrus is PERFECT! So, so spot on. And the song is super catchy. (Or should I say "it's pretty cool?") Robert and I have been singing it for days now. We're very well-matched dorks, what can I say?
This next clip is from the 12/06 episode of The Daily Show. The clip is about Fox News' continued coverage of their perceived 'war on Christmas' and while the entire thing is excellent, the best (most pointed) bit starts @ the 5:05 mark.

The Daily Show clip was funny but this one from The Colbert Report had me in a fit of giggles. It's about Days of Our Lives using product placement to help fund (or, rather, save) the show and the BEST part is @ 3:35 (though all of the toaster strudel stuff is golden).

And, finally, because vet tech students are as dorky as you think, here's a video that someone in my class shared. I'm not really a cutesy cat video person but this one is actually pretty humorous. Good voice over work.

Stephen actually has a lovely voice and I enjoyed his version of the song. Comedy Central needs to come out with a Colbert Report soundtrack CD!!! Then I could listen to "Where In the World and When In Time Is Stephen Colbert Going to Be In the Persian Gulf" or "Canton, South Dakota" anytime my little heart desires... Oh, how sweet that would be. So get on that, Comedy Central!

Colbert Goofs
The Prince Charles one is indeed a classic but for some reason the crackup below has stayed with me for years. (It wasn't included in the list but because I'm so stuck on it, I knew how to find it on Colbert Nation. Is that sad? If only I could remember why the mousetrap was on his desk...)

* I think I am the only person on Earth who thinks Last Action Hero is a legitimately funny - and underrated! - movie. But trust me, people... it's good stuff! Anyway, skip to the 3:50 mark to understand my Braunschweiger reference. :o)
But the BEST part of the movie is at the 8:10 mark in the clip below. (Robert, at least, will appreciate this... we do this skit all the time at home. We're sad. I know.)

(The best part about posting this on the blog? Now I can hear the song whenever I want! Forever!!! I just wish I could make it a ring tone...)
Well, it was revealed last night that Stephen will be going to Iraq and broadcasting from Baghdad all next week. The New York Times has the extended AP story:
Should be awesome! But it makes me sad... Now that Stephen has revealed where in the world and when in time he's going to be in the Persian Gulf, there will be no more WITWAWITISCGTBITPG segments. BOO!!!! :o( That really stinks.NEW YORK (AP) -- Stephen Colbert will broadcast four shows next week from Baghdad, where he says he'll be ''Bob Hoping'' it for the troops.
Colbert arrived at the former Al Faw Palace at Camp Victory on Friday. For weeks, he's promoted the trip on Comedy Central's ''The Colbert Report,'' but because the military urged caution, he has only trumpeted a vague trip to ''the Persian Gulf.''
The series of shows, each to be taped in front of an audience of about 450 troops, have been dubbed ''Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando.'' It's the first time anyone has broadcast from Iraq for a USO tour.
Though Colbert has often infused his mock pundit character into real events -- the 2008 election, the 2006 White House Correspondents' Association dinner -- his Iraq trip isn't a parody.
Both the character Colbert (silent ''t'') and the real Colbert (pronounced ''t''), a Catholic family man, are ardent supporters of the troops. He has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Yellow Ribbon Fund (a charity that assists injured service members and their families), and he's a board member of DonorsChoose.org, which benefits the schools of military kids.
''Sometimes my character and I agree,'' Colbert said in an interview at his Manhattan office before leaving for Baghdad. ''My character and I both know the Apostles' Creed and my character and I both think it's a shame that we're not talking about the troops anymore.''
The trip came about when former Assistant Secretary of Defense Bing West suggested it after an interview last July on ''The Colbert Report.''
''He gave me this big ol' manly handshake and said, `If Gen. Petraeus invited you to do your show from Iraq, would you do it?''' recalled Colbert. ''And I thought, `Oh, an improviser would say yes without thinking.'''
Colbert was in the midst of the hectic presidential campaign coverage, but once the election passed, he checked back on the invitation -- this time with Gen. Raymond Odierno, the current commander of the forces in Iraq.
After months of planning, ''The Colbert Report'' is sending about 30 production staff (a third of the show's regular staff) to Iraq. The production restraints are steep, but Colbert is planning to do four shows, which will air Monday through Thursday next week at 11:30 p.m. EDT.
Colbert prepared for the trip by visiting Fort Jackson, S.C., for a very abbreviated basic training. He also drew on help from Tom Hanks to gather care packages for the troops. Guests on the shows will include Odierno and Barham Saleh, the deputy prime minister of Iraq.
Does he expect a tough crowd?
''I don't know,'' said Colbert. ''It's got both things going for it. One is, they're hungry for entertainment. But also, they have a whole vocabulary of existence that I haven't experienced yet.''
The shows' theme will be the declining attention paid to the war in Iraq. Colbert says he was spurred to make the trip when he noticed economic news coverage eclipsing reports from Baghdad.
Colbert said he feels a ''special guilt'' and responsibility to keep the soldiers' story alive because of the political nature of his program. The comedian is also guest editing next week's issue of Newsweek magazine. (A mock-up sits on his desk with the question ''Remember Iraq?'' splashed across the cover.)
''I don't want to forget that people are struggling through the things that I sometimes make jokes about,'' he said.
The 45-year-old comedian says he's not afraid of the danger of visiting Iraq (''I'm not a high value target''). Instead, he said he's only nervous about doing a good show for the troops.
''The show is always about me, it's always about the character,'' said Colbert. ''What's different about this is, it's really about them. If they laugh, I'll be completely satisfied.''

Words of Wisdom from Stephen Colbert
Robert bought me the I Am America... and So Can You! 2009 desk calendar for my birthday and I love it... Which basically means you should expect to see more Colbertisms on the blog as the year progresses. (Sorry!!!) Today's entry made me giggle; it's as if Stephen is speaking right to me. About Robert. For the Ladies: Dating Do'sDuring the meal, order something that will get his attention, like a side of bacon for dessert.
I can't think of anything sexier.

That Cookie?
My favorite bit? It's probably your favorite, too - "Me have crazy times in 70s and 80s. Me like the Robert Downey, Jr. of cookies." (@ the 3:40 mark) I love it! That was Robert's favorite part, too.

It Rained!!!
HEE!!!!! Oh, this was HI-larious!!! It aired on Monday's show... I wasn't surprised Rain turned up on the Report - the Web has had photos of Rain's "super stealth" arrival for a while now - but I was surprised by how the dance-off played out. Brilliant! Stephen, you have no shame and you never let me down. And Rain? Good sport. I guess Stephen really is the Itsy Bitsy Spider - 'cause Rain washed him out!
I love when Stephen uses his hands on the dance pad; that's exactly how I used to win races against Cheetah back in the old days on the Power Pad! :o)

Colbert's Singin' in Korean
It's that time of year again when Time puts forth its Top 100 list of the most influential people. Steven was bested by South Korean singer/actor Rain last year and Rain is ahead of Steven (by 1) once again this year. The following video was made last year in order to put Steven atop the list once and for all and though it didn't do the job in '07, it's popped up once again. I am chained to my computer this afternoon while I work on a DVD for someone and, while it's uploading, I thought I would share because, well, it's funny and I like it. Duh! :o)
Steven has been courting Colbert Nation votes heavily on his show and Rain has finally responded:
I, for one, really hope Rain accepts and he and Colbert have a dance-off... it would be awesome!!
UPDATE: Steven lost out to Rain again! But, this year, both were beat out by the video-game designer who created Mario, Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda.
