Movie Morsels 77: Skyfall Trailer

Well, the new teaser trailer for the upcoming James Bond film Skyfall but the only place I read about it was on LaineyGossip and she only featured its link on a French site! So... this makes me think that people aren't as excited about movie as they perhaps should be. And, to be honest, the only thought I had while watching the trailer was "Was Daniel's hair that short in the other movies? I don't like it."

We'll go see it, of course, but I hope it doesn't require any remaining knowledge of Quantum of Solace 'cause I hate that movie and refuse to watch it again! So, if that's the case, I hope Daniel looks super hot in the movie (read: his unflattering haircut is featured only in a flashback) so I have something to look at while I am confused.

Dragon Tattoo Review by MOVIEBOB

For our annual NYE movie night, Robert and I went to go see The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. We would have gone to the movies anyway, because who are we to break such a hard-partying tradition?, but I wound up getting $1 movie tickets through a Groupon deal so celebrating at the movies seemed like an more awesome idea! (In fact, Robert was so stoked about our massive savings that he splurged on a soda a box of Reese's Pieces for me. $9.75 later we still made out in the black so woohoo!) And it was a good movie so it was a good choice. I had both seen the original Swedish version as well as read the book so I was able to view the movie with more critical eyes, I think (and a more understanding brain for sure), than the average moviegoer. Robert had, of course, seen the first movie, too, but hasn't yet read the book so even he and I looked at it a little differently. I didn't know anything about the books or the movie when we saw the original Dragon Tattoo so after watching it I was very taken with it. So it's hard for me to say which version I prefer; it's hard to parse out my initial "Wow! That was great!" feeling and look at the first movie objectively for a straight apples-to-apples comparison. I think both films have pros and cons in their own right. I did hop on the IMDb boards the next day, though, and came across this review which I think actually does a pretty good (if somewhat harsh) job of sizing up the films against one another. If you've seen them both, take a look a this and tell me what you think.

Movie Morsels 73: More Dragon Tattoo

A second - and much longer - trailer for the film has been released and while I like it, it doesn't have the cool urgency of the previous teaser. Plus, I miss the awesome song from the first trailer, too. This trailer does give you a much better preview of the actors' performances, though, and I can't help but wonder why Rooney Mara is portraying Lisbeth with a Swedish(ish) accent, Daniel Craig's Blomkvist just sounds British. Not a huge deal. Just something that twanged in my ear.

Movie Morsels 65: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Yes! It's actually an entertainment-related post! Weehoo!!! Here we go...

The 'red band' trailer for TGWtDT was released late last week and since I am a fan of both the books and the Swedish films, I thought I'd pass it along.

UPDATE: Okay, so I've had to embed this video twice in as many days for it being removed from YouTube so here's the 'green band' trailer instead. Exactly the same but with a shot of people at a dinner table in lieu of side boob. Done.

According to EW.com:

Though the teaser plays out with rapid-fire imagery set to Trent Reznor and Karen O’s cover of Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song, we get our first major glimpses of star Rooney Mara... as the gothic, damaged super-sleuth. There seems to be less of Daniel Craig, and his sullied journalist Mikael Blomkvist appears to be far more vulnerable — or at least far more easily wounded — than Salander, which is as it should be. He’s kind of the damsel in distress in this tale, no?
The footage in the teaser surprisingly plays out in near chronological order, practically the entire story with each scene reduced to a single fraction-of-a-second shot. It could almost be a black-and-white film, with such stark contrast between the snow and so much use of shadow and silhouette (including a little side-nudity that probably earns this clip its “red band” NSFW status.)

I didn't really get the whole 'the entire story was revealed' thing from the trailer but I've only watched it once so maybe I was too sleepy and need to see it again. Regardless, it looks like it's going to be a good movie and I'm glad it's retained the gritty feeling of the book. I'm still curious to see how big a role Erica will play in the film, since she wasn't really in the Swedish version but she's being played by a big name (Robin Wright). I also just reeeeeally hope they don't have distractingly bad accents...

007 Popsicle

Hee! I just found this on EW.com and I think it's fantastic:

In honor of National Ice Cream Week in the UK, Del Monte Superfruit Smoothies has sculpted a limited edition popsicle in the shape of Daniel Craig's nude torso. The frozen treat -- said to come in blueberry, pomegranate, and cranberry flavors and be under 100 calories each -- is the result of a poll of more than 1,000 women, the majority of whom wanted the image of Craig, emerging from the water in Casino Royale, immortalized.

Yummers! And I mean that in ALL senses of the word. :o) A pomegranate-flavored replica of Daniel Craig's chiseled bod in my very own hands?!! Delectable! Delicious! A fabulous idea! (I'd probably be too embarrassed to eat such a confection anywhere outside the privacy of my own home but still... ) Stupid America. We never have any fun ice cream treats.

P.S. For a, ahem, naughtier take on the 007 'sicle, click here.

Hot Men Alert: Daniel Craig

Hey, it's been over a month since my last hot men post - that's some real willpower there, people. As you can see, Daniel Craig is on the cover of this Sunday's Parade magazine promoting the only-three-weeks-from-tomorrow premiere of Quantum of Solace. (Woohoo!)

If you don't feel like reading the article via the pics above, you can access it at Parade's Web site here.

Movie Morsels 26 - Quantum of Solace

Stupid Harry Potter! Moving Half-Blood Prince from November to July is really having a domino effect in Hollywood... First Twilight moved, then Bolt and now Quantum of Solace. The latter was set to premiere on November 7th but has been pushed back to November 14th to stake a claim in the Thanksgiving holiday box office. This, in turn, caused Paul Rudd's Role Models to move its premiere up one week. I don't care about Bolt or Role Models, of course (Bolt sounds just atrocious... though maybe not as bad as Beverly Hills Chihuahua!) but there you have it. NOW how am I supposed to celebrate my 11-year anniversary?! It will be Daniel Craig-free. Dang. ;o)

Random Round-Up 13

Yay! Keane's new album, Perfect Symmetry, is coming out October 13th. Wheeee!

(Unnecessary side note: it looks like Tom totally cut his hair. Boo.)

HOW long has it been since a Hot Men post, hmm? I'll tell you - too long! (Actually, about 3 full weeks... if you don't count the Christian Bale argument-with-him-mom-blown-exceedingly-out-of-proportion story updates. Which I don't.) So, without further ado, please enjoy these photos of sexy beast Daniel Craig at the Pineapple Express premiere. I have absolutely no idea why he'd attend this particular movie's premiere but who cares? He looks HOT in that suit!! Yum.

Maria turned me on to passiveaggressivenotes.com and I have to say - it is an excellent way to kill some time at work! It's basically a site that posts real notes left by and for real people like this:

As I said - it's an amusing way to kill time at work! :o) Anyway, I found the following comic at the site (the comic is actually originally from the New Yorker) and it struck a chord:

I HATE it when people do this! I mean, on the one hand, I'm happy that someone is actually bothering to hold the door open at all. It's definitely not a "sure" thing, as I'm sure many of you know. On the other hand, I absolutely feel like I have to scurry to make it to the door in time or else risk being rude and ungrateful. Conversely, if I'm walking toward a door and I can tell someone is behind me but they're at that just-a-wee-bit-too-far distance, I'll almost run to the door so I reach it just that much sooner. That way I don't feel like I have to hold it open for them and they don't feel like they have to rush. (If they're at a decent distance, however, I'll hold the door open; I'm no hypocrite, people!!) I know - my life is so complicated. It's no wonder I'm so tired.

I always love the shorts that play before any Pixar movie in the theater - as I'm sure most people do. The most recent one, Presto (which debuted before Wall*E) is now viewable online at gamaniak. If you haven't yet seen it, you definitely should!!! Right now. Go.

Movie Morsels 18 - Quantum of Solace

The new trailer for next Bond film came out today:

It opens on November 7th - my 11th anniversary! Maybe I'll get lucky and Robert will treat me to a showing...

Here is a clip of some Bond girl (Olga Somethingorother) behind-the-scenes action:
